Two quick things unlock your tutor: your access code (from your purchase email) and a free Google Gemini API key. Both take about two minutes total.
P107-XXXX-XXXX code from your purchase email to unlock it. Lost it? Reply to that email and we'll resend it.Go to aistudio.google.com/app/apikey and sign in with any Google account (the same one you use for Gmail is fine).
You'll see a blue Create API key button. Click it. If it asks you to pick or create a project, just accept the default — any project works.
Google shows a long string that starts with AIza…. Click the copy icon next to it. That's your key — keep it handy.
Head to the AI Tutor page. In the setup box, leave the provider on Google Gemini, paste your key, and hit Start Tutoring. That's it — you're in.
Almost always a stale page. In the tutor, click ⚙ Settings → Clear saved key, then hard-refresh: Ctrl+Shift+R (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+R (Mac). Re-paste your key. If it persists, try an incognito/private window.
The key was likely copied with a stray space, or it came from the wrong place. Re-copy it from aistudio.google.com/app/apikey (Google AI Studio — not the Google Cloud Console) and paste again.
Yes — Google's Gemini free tier gives you a generous number of requests per day at no cost, which is plenty for exam study. No credit card required for the AI Studio free key.
No. Your key is saved in your browser, so you only set it up once on that device. Use the same browser and you'll go straight into the tutor next time.
Yes. In the tutor's setup box, switch the provider to OpenAI or Anthropic and paste a key from that provider instead. (Those require a little billing credit; Gemini's free tier is the easiest start.)
No. Everything happens in your browser and goes directly to your AI provider. We never see your key or your conversations.
